Blueprint Film Foundation Workshop

Today we were lucky to have a man named Dave from Blueprint Film Foundation do a workshop with us. He introduced us to advanced editing techniques, for example the luma key, the sharpening effect and many more skills.

Each group had an hours session with Dave where he would go through our music videos and tell us which parts need improving. In the workshop Dave assisted us with our difficulties in the editing process of the music video. He demonstrated how to make one specific colour stand out, this was significantly important as we wanted to represent certain meanings and with his help we could do so. The 'Old Yellow Bricks' opening shot was the shot that needed brightening as the yellow was quite dull and not very distinctive, however using Adobe Elements 11 we were able to go over the top of the writing using yellow, but with a higher opacity so that it was more dominant. Another shot that Dave said we could improve was the skateboarding one, these shots were too long, so we therefore added effects to them to distract the audiences attention from the length. Dave also said we could use black and whites shots more, however only to make certain shots stand out.

By having this workshop this helped us to build our knowledge as well as skills with editing. Furthermore, we could know use these skills and apply them to our music video.
